Electro-formed Mold Blown Vessels

Glass, Copper, Gold

2007

Copper Electro-forming is an process that slowly deposits copper onto a non conductive object while it is suspended in an acid bath and charged with a low voltage current. For some of these works, glass is blown into a mold, fired with metallic luster, and copper plated. For other works, a wax is sculpted and then copper electro-formed, then a mold is created around the wax. After the wax is removed, the mold is brought up to temperature in a kiln and glass is blown into the hot mold containing the copper shell.
